Dr. Christian W. Mende, MD, FACP, FACN, FASN, FAHA, is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Mende graduated magna cum laude from the University of Heidelberg, School of Medicine in Heidelberg, Germany. He completed his medical internship at County Hospital in Sanderbusch, Germany, which was then followed by an internship and internal medicine residency at Tucson Medical Education Program in Tucson, Arizona.
Dr. Mende’s postdoctoral training includes a National Institute of Health fellowship in nephrology at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Mende is board certified in nephrology, internal medicine, geriatrics, and clinical hypertension.
Among his medical affiliations, Dr. Mende is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, American College of Nutrition, and the American and International Society of Nephrology. Dr. Mende is a fellow and charter member of the American Society of Hypertension.
