Shinji brings more than 15 years of experience spanning drug discovery research, corporate strategy, and cross-border R&D operations. He built his career at Astellas Pharma, where he most recently led the group to globalize business processes and shape portfolio strategy. As Head of Strategy & Operations at Xyphos Biosciences (An Astellas Company) in California, he ran the U.S. subsidiary's strategic planning, program management, and research alliances, integrating local operations with global headquarters. Earlier, he led company-wide mid-term planning and the post-merger integration of an overseas acquisition, and led biomarker and translational science initiatives as a scientific leader.

Shinji earned his BS, MS, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Tokyo and completed the LEAD program at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
